Hilton asked us to update their current Italian restaurant within the Conrad Abu Dhabi Etihad Towers, creating a fresh new brand.
From the Italian word for Sun, Sole celebrates ‘Sapori d’Italia’ – the flavours of Italy – particularly Northern Italy and Milan.
Celebrating food the Italian way, Sole believes that time spent dining together is a time to indulge each other, to hear about days past and make plans for the future. Sole takes this time to celebrate each other, music, the arts, everything that makes up ‘la dolce vita’.
Sole’s core brandmark is influenced by the tall letter shapes in classic Italian signage whilst giving it a contemporary twist. It stands bold and proud but its appearance is softened by the accompanying expressive hand script and then endorsed with the ring wording stamp. With an air of Milan, its quirks in the letter forms and the expressive nature of the overlapping brand messages, give it individual style and modern elegance.
Inspired by its brand values of craft, social and simplicity, the photography style for Sole highlights the ingredients and crafted expertise to create theatre from the culinary process through to the finished dish.
After creating the brand identity, it was then rolled out across print and digital assets such as menus, comms and social media posts to bring a taste of Italy to the city of Abu Dhabi.
Following its launch, we’re delighted that Sole has become an award winning concept – most recently winning ‘Favourite Italian Restaurant’ at the What’s On Abu Dhabi 2021 Awards.
