Greene King have been brewing beers and running pubs for almost 250 years but interestingly, had no real visual identity for their flagship London pubs, which were a disparate set of boozers with an incredible heritage and history, but had lost the love a bit. Our brief was to provide that visual identity and inject a sense of pride back into the pubs.
Our solution was to re-awaken that pride in being that amazing Great British institution, the pub, and be unashamed and uncompromised in our commitment to it. True and here for the people! As quintessentially British as the good old cuppa and as appealing to locals around the corner as tourists passing through.
Our design analogy was simple – the proper English gentleman. Smart, always polished, proud of their heritage but with a few quirks and stories to tell. Dressed traditionally in timeless pieces free of fashion and fads.
Budgets were massively tight so therefore much of the solution was about celebrating and making grand again what was there already, focused around those classic pub icons; the bar, the entrance and those quirky heritage features. Recycle, reuse, reupholster, refresh and rejuvenate.
We’ve given a new lease of life to pubs that are centuries old for new generations of pub-goers to enjoy.
