Arabian Hotel Investment Conference (AHIC)

by Matt Bradbury

Stefan and Helen were honoured to open the Arabian Hotel Investment Conference-GRIF event in Ras al Khaimah last month. They were presenting our research findings on the hotel owner-operator relationship and for the first time, real data on how much of Dubai’s hotel F&B business is outsourced/leased/franchised.

They then moderated illuminating panels with industry investors, leaders and entrepreneurs at the industry’s no1 investment-oriented event.

Taking Genting’s Sky Bar to new heights

by Matt Bradbury

It’s a pretty daunting prospect trying to improve something that is well-loved by many, but that was exactly the brief with Sky Bar, Genting’s jewel in the crown of their restaurant and bar experiences at Resorts World Birmingham.

Arabian Hotel Investment Conference (AHIC)

by Stefan Breg

THE investment event for the hotel sector bringing together government and municipal officials, major hotel owners and operators. AHIC is an annual event and this year, KEANE were honoured to be asked to present our findings on the key owner-operator relationships in hotel F&B in the Middle East and the true extent of leasing & franchising of hotel F&B venues. After the presentation, Stefan and Helen hosted panels with prominent industry representatives from both owning and operating companies to further discuss what we had earlier described in our presentation as ‘Hot Topics in F&B’.

GOING FOR GOLD

by Dave Cressey

Just like Tinseltown preparing for the Academy Awards season at the beginning of the year, the restaurant & bar design industry is preparing for awards season, and similarly to Titanic at the Oscars in 1998, we’ve been shortlisted for a whole host of awards at the Restaurant & Bar Design Awards in October.

We’re just hoping that’s where the analogy ends and we’re not left with that sinking feeling…

Some observations from recent work that Keane is doing in SE Asia. In Seoul, I was expecting some of the wacky innovation I’d seen in Tokyo…

TOO MUCH OF EVERYONE ELSES IDEAS

by Helen el Mettouri

Speaking to Commercial Interior Design magazine, Helen El Mettouri, Keane’s regional director in Dubai, shares her thoughts on F&B design as well as the company’s latest hospitality projects.

“We have too much of everyone else’s ideas and concepts in the region, and we genuinely want to start creating concepts here that belong here, start here, and represent here. Every great F&B market globally has the range, and that is what we lack,” she says….

FINGER LICKING SMART

KFC have just launched an apparel / merch website, and it’s bloody brilliant: KFC Limited. Why do I think it’s so good? I’ve thrown down some initial thoughts:

Home Delivery

It’s so easy to get food delivered home now. Deliveroo is on the up and up, UberEats is trying to establish itself, and McD’s has had everyone questioning the fabric of reality with it’s recent announcement of delivery in certain cities (in the UK at least).
