Walnut Bistro

by Matt Bradbury

Walnut is a family operated restaurant and the product of an English and American couple’s vision to open a venue in a beautiful region of southern France that they now call home.

Nestled away in one of the great wine producing regions of France, Dordogne, is a town very popular amongst British expats and our client’s ambition was to connect both the local British and French community, along with the visiting tourists, through a dining experience that provided quality and exceptional hospitality.

With this in mind, the idea was to create a space that encouraged socialising through an offer centred around locally inspired platters and fine wines to get the conversation flowing.

Comment: Myth busting the topic of F&B in hotels

by Matt Bradbury

Brilliant to see our research and insights published following our speaking assignment, delivered by our very own Stefan Breg and Helen El Mettouri for the first Global Restaurant Investment Forum at the Arabian Hotel Investment Conference. GRIF London Briefing Review

by Dave Cressey

Last week we attended the Global Restaurant Investment Forum in London, which was hosted at the exciting Tel Aviv restaurant, Bala Baya. The event series, which we’ve been sponsoring over the last year and had the privilege to speak at previously, is a brilliant opportunity to hear about the issues affecting our industry, particularly investors and operators. Here’s some of the key take-outs from the event.

Arabian Hotel Investment Conference (AHIC)

by Matt Bradbury

Stefan and Helen were honoured to open the Arabian Hotel Investment Conference-GRIF event in Ras al Khaimah last month. They were presenting our research findings on the hotel owner-operator relationship and for the first time, real data on how much of Dubai’s hotel F&B business is outsourced/leased/franchised.

They then moderated illuminating panels with industry investors, leaders and entrepreneurs at the industry’s no1 investment-oriented event.

by Matt Bradbury

It’s a pretty daunting prospect trying to improve something that is well-loved by many, but that was exactly the brief with Sky Bar, Genting’s jewel in the crown of their restaurant and bar experiences at Resorts World Birmingham.

Arabian Hotel Investment Conference (AHIC)

by Stefan Breg

THE investment event for the hotel sector bringing together government and municipal officials, major hotel owners and operators. AHIC is an annual event and this year, KEANE were honoured to be asked to present our findings on the key owner-operator relationships in hotel F&B in the Middle East and the true extent of leasing & franchising of hotel F&B venues. After the presentation, Stefan and Helen hosted panels with prominent industry representatives from both owning and operating companies to further discuss what we had earlier described in our presentation as ‘Hot Topics in F&B’.

Just like Tinseltown preparing for the Academy Awards season at the beginning of the year, the restaurant & bar design industry is preparing for awards season, and similarly to Titanic at the Oscars in 1998, we’ve been shortlisted for a whole host of awards at the Restaurant & Bar Design Awards in October.

We’re just hoping that’s where the analogy ends and we’re not left with that sinking feeling…

Some observations from recent work that Keane is doing in SE Asia. In Seoul, I was expecting some of the wacky innovation I’d seen in Tokyo…
